Regional Community
Portland is a vibrant town with an active burner community, home to some amazing theme camps, artists, stilt walkers, aevents, fire performances, music and other social gatherings. The Burning Man ethos really resonates here in the Willamette Valley.
We hold SOAK*, our annual regional burn, Portland Decompression, Woosday, town halls, Newbie Burner Picnics, and other events where you can meet, connect, and collaborate with other burners in the area. What is SOAK*?
Thank you everyone for a beautiful and highly participatory SOAK 2017 – Superstition! We had a blast!
SOAK* is the Regional Burning Man Gathering for Portland and Western Oregon. SOAK* is a multi-day interactive arts festival and family reunion-style camping event in Oregon with sprawling grassy lawns, pituresque river canyons, colorful camps, and diverse activities. This is a place to meet your fellow Burners and get a taste of Burning Man Northwest style. SOAK* features participation, fire performances, art, DJs and live music, a pageant, theme camps, workshops, Portland Temple and Ceremonial Burnable Sculptures. Anyone can participate.
What is BurnOut?
BurnOut is the anual main event of the Portland Decompression. Our goal each year is to hold this event in an indoor+outdoor space with in Portland to host art, community, inspire creativity, music, and memories as we all return from the Playa or decompress from our Burning Man season. It’s a great place to dress your burner best and connect with your community. Anyone can participate. (Some events, or portions of events may have 21+ restrictions).

Discussion List:
Portland-Announce is an email subscription moderated by the Portland RCs. If you know about an event, class, picnic, meetup, fire spinning, build, or something else really cool going on in the Burning Man Portland community and want to share it with others in the community, follow these steps:
1. Draft an email the way you would draft a press release. Make sure you format it exactly the way you want people to receive it, including a good subject line. In the body of the email include any important information like who is putting on the event, what the event is for and how it’s related to Burning Man or the Portland regional community, where the event will take place, when it’s happening (date and time), and any other information you think is helpful to know.
Do not put “Can you send this out on portland-announce?” at the top of your email.
2. Send your email to Portland-announce@burningman.org
3. Portland RCs will review your request and approve or deny it, typically within 72 hours. Discretion is left to RCs who evaluate each post.
