Alberta
Regional Community
Alberta Burners value the 10 Principles of Burning Man, and are an active, busy, all-ages Community with hundreds of members throughout the province. Much of our community is concentrated in the Calgary and Edmonton areas, as well as throughout the province! We are represented by a non-profit society, The League of Extraordinary Albertans (The LEA), and our Regional Contacts. The LEA is the heart of the Alberta Burning Man community, empowering and inspiring Burners and newcomers to make art, create connections, and provide an opportunity to experience Burning Man Principles and culture.

Alberta Burners are doers! We connect through collaboration on travel, theme camps, projects and activities at the Big Burn and at other Regionals. We also work together on planning, facilitating and producing a variety of events in our province, including Decompression and A Taste of ‘That Thing in the Desert’. Freezer Burn, our regional Burn, is held on the June Solstice weekend. This has been our largest event since its first year in 2008, and is the hub of the Alberta Burn community! There are a range of workshops, art and theme camp fundraisers, playa bike rides, costume swaps, adult and family events throughout the year.
Alberta Burners love to travel! Members of our community visit and collaborate with our Burn neighbours in Vancouver, Victoria and Saskatchewan as both volunteers and participants. There are also a variety of local non-Burn events in cities across the province that have an Alberta Burner presence, either through art or volunteers.
