We are in New York City, and like the city we’re part of, we do tend to think that we’re the center of everything. Despite what you may have heard, however, New Yorkers tend to be very nice people. We are happy to help anyone! Because space is tight in the New York area, we don’t have our own regional burn, so many New York Burners travel to Playa Del Fuego (in Delaware), Firefly (in Vermont), Frostburn (in Pennsylvania), Transformus (in North Carolina), and even Flipside (in Texas) to get their playa fix throughout the year, and connect with other New York and East Coast burners. We work closely with other nearby Regionals to create some great events. In and around the city, there are always a plethora of outings, collaborative art projects, talks, movies, fund-raisers, celebrations, art events, and parties going on. The best way to find out about as much as possible is to subscribe to the announcement list (low volume, strictly announcements) and the discussion list (very high volume, chatty, and a bit intense). And also check www.brcnyc.com for the latest updates.
There are so many people in and around NYC that know of or have been to the desert. On the playa, New Yorkers are everywhere! There are now literally dozens of theme camps and thousands of people from NYC, with great new camps popping up all the time!
Get involved and find out about local happenings by signing up on our Announcement list, chat with other Burners on our Discussion lists, or follow us via your social media of choice - but definitely come out and get involved!
The New York Announce list is a moderated announcements-only list for events of interest to local Burners. Recipients get regular updates, event listings, and Burning Man news from this list.
