RoBurn is a regional Burning Man event held annually in the Romanian landscape. Like Burning Man, RoBurn emphasizes self-reliance, which extends to camping. Participants are expected to bring everything they need to survive comfortably in a potentially harsh environment. This includes shelter (tents, RVs, etc.), food, water, and supplies for the duration of the event. There are no services provided for basic needs like food vendors or running water. This “pack it in, pack it out” ethos is central to the Burning Man experience and ensures minimal impact on the environment.
Newcomers have two main camping options: they are welcome to camp independently in the designated free camping area, providing a more solitary and self-sufficient experience. Alternatively, for those seeking immediate community and shared resources, they can join one of RoBurn’s theme camps, contributing with the building process and resources. Theme camps often offer shared meals, workshops, activities, and a built-in social network, making it easier for newcomers to integrate into the RoBurn community.
Beyond these options, participants are also encouraged to form their own theme camps. This offers the greatest opportunity for self-expression and community building. Creating your own camp requires complete self-reliance: you are responsible for providing all necessary materials, infrastructure, power (generators, solar, etc.), and supplies for your camp members. This includes everything from shelter and cooking facilities to lighting, sanitation, and any interactive elements you wish to offer.
