Burners can be found throughout the state of Maine and there is an active burner community in the greater Portland area and Downeast. Most events and meet-ups take place in southern Maine, though there are trips to various parts of the state periodically. Weekly meet and greets take place every Thursday evening in Portland and anyone is welcome to attend. See announcements at Maine Burningman Society on Facebook or on the Maine Announce list.
Maine was represented on the playa in the Circle of Regional Effigies in 2011 (Lobster Bisque-O!) and in 2012 (Happy as a Clam). Burners from Maine also attend Burning Man Regional Events including Firefly (New England Regional), Burning Flipside (Texas Regional), and Play Del Fuego (Mid-Atlantic Regional).
Several independent art installations have been built and brought from Maine including the Flaming Hooker (2015 and 2016), Whipple 3 art car (2016 and 2018), and more.
We continue to schedule events to interact with the community in Maine and throughout New England. For specific ideas or requests reach out to email@example.com.
