News: Rip Van Winkle; Community, Progress, Change. Wake up to a whole new world! HullabalU is back, and we are ready to embrace some changes, including new land! We can’t wait for you to experience the magic of this beautiful property. Hulla’s two year hiatus gave us time and opportunity to think about the Community aspect we would like to foster for our Burn. For many of us, this is the end of season Burn that we attend with our families and children to wrap up a season of hard work, leadership, and volunteerism. We have realized that family is a very underserved demographic in our Burn community, and we want to provide the opportunity at this Burn to cater to our Sparks and our elders- our families as a whole. Going forward, Hulla is going to put more of a focus on skill and knowledge sharing, Community building, relaxation, and play time. We want to train our Sparks to run their own departments out of Fairy Tale Village, and teach them skills such as Effigy building (they will be building their own to burn Friday night at this year’s event!). We are limiting the number of participants to 200 this year, as we just found and secured this property. We would like to encourage our community to focus on being present- come prepared to relax and enjoy this new land and connect with the community. We realize this does not leave time to organize theme camps, etc, and there is limited space this year that would not accommodate them. This property has so much potential for growth, and we are hoping to be involved in putting in improvements that would open up much more space for us in 2023.
