This months Burning Pub/Park is being amended in an attempt to mobilise our local community.
The unfolding tragedy in Australia is hard to watch for all of us. Some of our community are caught in the middle of it, some are volunteering to make a difference and some are watching on in despair and wondering if there is anything they can do.
I’m one of those people people who currently don’t know what to do. But as a community maybe there is something we can do. The Burning Man community has a long tradition of helping out with disaster relief, check out https://www.burnerswithoutborders.org/ Within our community there are builders, doers and helpers who are used to harsh environments and coming together to reach a common goal. I feel like we can use some of those skills right now.
We’ve set up this event in the same time slot as the usual Burning Pub/Park event. Last month we had a couple of hundred people at the event. Some of the people at last months event are already doing there bit for the current bushfire situation by opening there doors to those in need, helping affected wildlife, volunteering for the emergency services or raising well needed funds. We’re hoping that this event will be a catalyst for something bigger, we’re hoping that by collocating a couple of hundred skilled and motivated members of our amazing community that produce something positive. We’ll facilitate some discussion on the day.
We’ll also be doing do the usual socialising, but this time with more of a social impact mindset.
The theme of this years Seed is Tipping Point, we’re seeing that tipping point unfold before our eyes. Let’s see if we can do something about it.
