About Regional Contacts

What is a Regional Contact?

Burning Man Regional Contacts (RCs) are volunteers who take an active role in facilitating the spirit and ethos of Burning Man in local communities around the world.

What Does a Regional Contact Do?

Connect and Inspire: Regional Contacts are a bridge between Burning Man and their local community. They help spark connections, organize meet-ups, share information, and nurture the spirit of Burning Man year-round.

Support and Collaborate: Regional Contacts support each other and collaborate with local volunteers to bring events and activities like social meetups, civic projects, and art projects to life. They encourage and help others realize their ideas and dreams.

Guide and Advocate: Whether it’s answering questions about Burning Man principles or guiding new members preparing for their first event, Regional Contacts ensure everyone is welcomed and informed.

Champion Events: RCs bring people together and inspire creativity throughout the year. While they’re not expected to organize every event, they create a supportive environment where community members can turn their own ideas into reality. By offering guidance, encouragement, making connections, and facilitating communication, RCs help others take the lead and contribute, helping Burning Man culture flourish in their region all year long.

Leadership and Community Building: RCs demonstrate and cultivate leadership within their communities, mentor emerging leaders, and encourage active participation in local and regional events.

Who are Regional Contacts?

Regional Contacts (RCs) represent a diverse cross-section of the global community. They are self-nominated volunteers who participate in a thoughtful review process with both their local community and Burning Man Project. This process ensures that each RC is genuinely committed, responsible, and aligned with the values of Burning Man.

RCs may serve as part of a team of co-RCs, where their unique skills, interests, and other qualities are considered to create a well-rounded and effective team. This collaborative approach ensures that the team can best support and engage their local community

Regional Contacts come from all walks of life, reflecting a multitude of ages, races, genders, nationalities, and backgrounds. Burning Man is committed to embracing diversity and practicing radical inclusion, making sure that Regional Contacts embody these principles in their roles. Whether they’re seasoned Burners or relative newcomers, RCs share a common passion for fostering creativity, facilitating connections, and nurturing a thriving year-round Burning Man community.
